Level 3 Emergency First Aid At Work (RFQ) 1 day course

Designed for: Low-risk workplaces (e.g. offices, retail, small workshops)

 

Duration: 1 day (typically 6–7 hours)

 

Valid for: 3 years

Covers:

  • Roles and responsibilities of a first aider

  • CPR (adult)

  • Using an AED (defibrillator)

  • Dealing with unconscious casualties

  • Bleeding, burns, choking, and shock

  • Minor injuries (e.g. cuts, grazes, sprains)

Level 3 First Aid At Work (RFQ) 3 day course

​Designed for: Higher-risk workplaces (e.g. construction sites, warehouses, engineering)

 

Duration: 3 days 

 

Valid for: 3 years

 

Covers everything in the 1-day course, plus:

  • Head injuries

  • Chest injuries

  • Eye injuries

  • Fractures and dislocations

  • Spinal injuries

  • Asthma, diabetes, seizures, and other medical conditions

  • Poisoning and anaphylaxis

  • Detailed casualty monitoring and incident reporting

Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) 1 day

​Designed for: Those who have gained a level 2 or 3 childcare qualification as well as parents, guardians, grandparents or those who have an involvement with infants and children

Duration: 1 day

 

Valid for: 3 years

 

Covers:

  • Infant CPR and safe use of an AED

  • Child CPR and safe use of an AED

  • Choking

  • Paediatric wounds, bleeding and shock 

  • Loss of consciousness

  • Catastrophic bleeding

Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) 2 day

​Designed for: Those who have gained a level 2 or 3 childcare qualification, registered childminders and assistants and parents, guardians, grandparents

Duration: 2 days

 

Valid for: 3 years

 

Covers:

  • Assessing an emergency situation

  • Dealing with an unresponsive infant or child

  • CPR

  • Choking

  • Meningitis

  • Head and spinal injuries

  • Anaphylaxis

  • Asthma

Level 3 Award in Forestry First Aid + F

Designed for: Those who work (or intend to work) in a forestry, agricultural or remote environment, such as tree surgeons and farmers.

 

Duration: Usually added as a 2 hour bolt on to either Emergency First Aid at Work course or First Aid at Work course

Covers:

  • Extreme hot and cold temperatures

  • Managing catastrophic bleeding

  • Crush injuries

  • Lyme disease

Level 3 Award in the Fundamentals of Outdoor First Aid (RQF) 

Designed for: Outdoor first aiders with close access to further support from others. It is for people in roles such as outdoor instructors, sports coaches, primary or secondary teachers or rural visit leaders.

 

Duration: 1 day

  • Stabilising and insulating casualties

  • Cardiac arrest

  • Blood loss

  • Choking

  • Unconsciousness

  • Drowning

  • Medical conditions

Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid (RQF) (aligned with the Institute for Outdoor Learning)

Designed for: People acting in unsupported outdoor roles such as Outdoor Activity Leaders, Bushcraft Instructors, Canoe Instructors or Duke of Edinburgh assessors who run activities where medical help could be up to a few hours away.

 

Duration: 2 days

  • Managing multiple casualties

  • Insulating and providing shelter to casualties

  • Cardiac arrest

  • Blood loss

  • Choking

  • Extremes of temperature

  • Unconsciousness

  • Fractures, head and spinal injuries

 Level 3 Award in Administering Oxygen (RQF)

Designed for:  First aiders operating in a high risk environment, community first responders, cabin/film crew, fire, police and other emergency services personnel who may need to administer oxygen.

 

Duration: 1/2 day

Valid for: 3 years

 

Covers:

  • Clinical need for oxygen therapy

  • Oxygen delivery devices

  • Administering emergency oxygen

Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RFQ)

Designed for: Those who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide basic life support when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an AED.

 

Duration: 1/2 day

Valid for: 3 years

 

Covers:

  • Managing an unresponsive casualty

  • CPR

  • Using an AED on both adults and children

  • Combining AED use with CPR

Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF)

Designed for: Those who have a specific responsibility at work, at home or in voluntary and community activities, to provide basic life support and manage anaphylaxis when dealing with an emergency.

 

Duration: 1/2 day

Valid for: 3 years

 

Covers:

  • Managing a casualty with anaphylaxis

  • CPR

  • Common anaphylaxis triggers

  • Signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis

  • Treatment

Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support for Adults and Children (RQF)

Designed for:  anyone who wishes to learn basic life support skills for adults, children and infants. It is also ideal for those who are qualified in providing first aid and are looking to refresh or develop their existing first aid knowledge.

 

Duration: 1/2 day

  • Assessing an incident

  • Managing an unresponsive casualty

  • Recovery position

  • CPR

  • Choking

Level 2 Award in CPR and AED (RQF)

Designed for: Those who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide first aid and/or use an AED in an emergency.

 

Duration: 1/2 day

Covers:

  • CPR

  • Choking

  • Safe use of an AED

  • Using an AED on a child

  • AED maintenance

Level 2 Award in First Aid Essentials (RQF) 

Designed for: those who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide basic first aid to people they are caring for.

 

Duration: 1 day

Valid for: 3 years

 

Covers:

  • Managing an unresponsive casualty

  • CPR

  • Choking

  • External bleeding

  • Shock

  • Minor injuries.

Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid (RQF)

Designed for: Those who have a responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid when dealing with an emergency situation whilst undertaking activities, such as football, rugby, running.

 

Duration: 2 days

Valid for: 3 years

 

Covers:

  • Managing an unresponsive casualty

  • CPR

  • Choking

  • Head and spinal injuries

  • Abdominal injuries

  • External bleeding

  • Anaphylaxis

Level 2 Award in citizenAID (RQF)

Designed for:  All members of the public who wish to learn valuable life-saving skills and techniques for use in the event of a shooting, stabbing, bombing or other deliberate incident.

 

Duration: 3 hours

Valid for: 3 years

 

Covers:

  • Prioritising multiple casualties

  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty who is breathing

  • Controlling severe external bleeding. 

Annual Refresher Courses

Designed for: For anyone who holds a 3 year qualification but isn't using the learned skills regularly and would like a refresher
